Mariners Tales was initiated as an offshoot from ‘Red Canoe’ (see ‘Red Riding Hood’ series) and indeed its underlying theme essentially portrays the same fears of escape and adventure. The overall essence of the series was to explore the realm of ‘journeys’ and the imagined narrative nature of supposed ‘mariners tales’.
My main objective was to create images that by their very suggestive nature, asked the viewer to create their own tall-tales and cracking yarns!
